Calibration Instruments PDF Print E-mail

Fluke designs and manufactures calibration instruments in a wide variety of product categories. Besides their use for calibration, these instruments have several characteristics in common as you will find below.

9640A RF Reference Source

A unique combination of level accuracy, dynamic range and frequency in a single instrument

The Fluke 9640A Reference Generator features a unique combination of level accuracy, dynamic range and 4 GHz frequency capability to calibrate the broadest range of RF measurement workload. It has been designed specifically for metrology applications where the combination of level accuracy and dynamic range is important.

The 9640A replaces the level generator, power meter and sensors, and signal generator commonly used in RF calibration. It gives you the signal range and precision you need in a single, easy-to-use instrument. You need fewer pieces of equipment, simplifying the calibration process and, ultimately, saving time and resources.

For even greater time savings, the 9640A can be automated with MET/CAL® Plus Calibration Management Software. MET/CAL Plus software has become the de facto industry standard for automating the calibration process and managing cal lab inventory, because it provides a complete, scalable and affordable solution.

Barcode Magician®

Reliable data entry helps to increase productivity

The Barcode Magician software lets you make real-time changes to your MET/CAL® Plus database for both small and large quantities of instruments, in a fast, consistent manner that allows even inexperienced users to increase productivity. Developed by Fluke software partner On Time Support, Inc., Barcode Magician software allows you to automate repetitive database entry tasks simply and consistently, using a simple barcode tool or keyboard. Its simple, easy-to-use interface allows calibration technicians and instrument custodians to update a MET/CAL® Plus database quickly and efficiently, while at the same time drastically reducing data entry errors and substantially increasing productivity.

By using a barcode scanner with the Barcode Magician software, you can easily automate tasks such as:

  • Checking equipment in or out from a tool crib orinstrument impound area
  • Updating in-process status descriptions
  • Adding new or changing existing location
  • Accepting instrumentation for repair work
  • Virtually any database function other than calibration data entry, repair record creation, or addition of instruments

MS-DBFIX - Data Recovery from Corrupted Database

Data Recovery from Corrupted Database

Fluke’s MET/CAL Plus calibration management software is quite robust; however, as with any software application, the possibility exists for corruption of data. Our MS-DBFIX service lets us repair damaged databases in most cases, and return your data ready to use.

To accomplish a recovery, the database file and log file is sent to Fluke’s MET/SUPPORT group. Using special tools and utilities, we repair the damage (if we can) and return the data ready to use. When you purchase MS-DBFIX, MET/SUPPORT will use our best efforts to retrieve all, or as much as of the data possible, but no guarantee of any recovery will be made. Fluke will charge for this service whether or not any data recovery is actually successful.

This service may be purchased separately. It also is included in the MET/SUPPORT Gold Priority Support program (for MET/CAL® Plus or Portocal II).

MS-MIGRATE - Database Migration Assistance

Database Migration Assistance

Automated calibration installations are becoming more complex. Often it is a daunting challenge for the cal lab manager to get the hardware and software operating as expected. Fluke can help you migrate calibration data from your old database to a new MET/CAL Plus database. Here is how this service works:

  • You ship your “legacy” data, as a text file in delimited format, to the Fluke MET/SUPPORT product support group.
  • You tell us what fields are represented in the legacy data so we know how to correlate them into MET/BASE.
  • We will perform the data transfer and send you a populated MET/BASE file.

Database migrations do not, by nature, leave you with a perfect copy of the old data in the new database. Some data may be lost due to improper data entry methods or poor database structure/integrity.

MS-ONSITE - MET/CAL ® Plus Installation and Training Service

MET/CAL® Plus Installation and Training Service

Automated calibration installations are becoming more complex. Often it is a daunting challenge for the cal lab manager to get the hardware and software operating as expected.

Fluke’s On-Site System Integration and Training Option will solve that problem by giving you the opportunity to purchase the services of a qualified systems specialist to set up the hardware and software and get it running, and provide training and transition services.

The service is available in the US and Canada only. A Fluke MET/CAL Plus specialist will come to your site and in five days provide the following services:

  • Database migration to MET/BASE version 5.1 for a database up to 15,000 assets with history
  • Database configuration
  • Install MET/CAL clients and load existing procedures
  • Server and client setup
  • Install basic reports
  • Provide training with time remaining

MS-PSWD - Administrator Password Reconstruction Service

Activities for system administrators in MET/CAL®, 5500/CAL or MET/TRACK® systems are limited to ystem-related activities. These include adding, changing or deleting users, setting access levels and so on. Performing these activities is crucial to the operation of the system. Without a system administrator, a customer is essentially “locked out” of these important functions.

From time to time, customers forget or lose the system administrator password, which can result in limited to no access to their calibration system.

MS-PSWD is a service that customers in this predicament can purchase to get their systems password reestablished. The database is sent to the Fluke MET/SUPPORT group (via FTP or other means), and we reconstruct a system administrator password using special tools in the support group.

This service may be purchased separately. It also is included in the MET/SUPPORT Gold Priority Support program.

Warranted procedures for MET/CAL® Plus

MET/CAL® warranted procedures are optional calibration procedures for MET/CAL® Plus Calibration Software. This class of MET/CAL® and 5500/CAL procedures, produced by Fluke Precision Measurement engineers, is designed to satisfy your need for ready-to-go, fully tested procedures.

MET/CAL procedures are warranted by Fluke Corporation to produce valid calibrations on the intended unit under test (UUT) for the specified model and revision level. The warranty assures you of Fluke's full support for the original, unaltered procedure.

Once installed and operational, these procedures automate the calibration process under MET/CAL control as described in the UUT's service documentation. In many cases, multiple procedures are provided for each model to provide "verification only" and "adjustment" procedures. Multiple procedures also may be provided which give you a choice of different standards to perform the calibration.
